I’ve got to give the report on this race that I ran today. It’s not a race that I’m really proud of- my slowest half marathon time. But hey, it could have been worse, right? It wasn’t horrible either. I didn’t feel like I was racing it; I was just running it. I’ve been sick enough times these past several months, that it hasn’t helped my running. Felt a little zapped, maybe even burnt out.
I can see that I am not a big fan of spring races, because you have to train through the cold winter months when cold/flu viruses are rampant, which of course my kids bring home from school on a regular basis. Also, I think my body does go into some kind of hibernation mode, as I’m struggling to get out on those cold, dark winter mornings.
But the weather was BEAUTIFUL! It couldn’t have been more perfect. The tulips and blossoming trees were fantastic. The course wasn’t too bad either. Some nice downhill at the beginning, although there was a decent uphill stretch near the end. So I couldn’t complain about those things. Maybe it’s time to start running races in recreational mode. You know, just kicking back and enjoying the ride. Not bad either!
