Salt Lake City is a special place. Its history, topography, and beauty make it one of the best kept secrets in America. This point was reemphasized to me today as we took a little hike to the top of Ensign Peak. The .86 mile hike is very kid friendly.  It is a rather steep and rocky trail, but its brevity makes it very doable for almost anyone. The views of the Salt Lake and the Valley are spectacular. It is also fun to read all the history associated with this special place. The story of the first European settlers of this area (Mormon Pioneers) is absolutely incredible. It is a tribute to the human spirit that they were able to build this city under the most challenging circumstances.
