We took the family to watch the Tour of Utah up Little Cottonwood Canyon. We were hoping to go to the finish line at Snowbird, but didn’t get there in time before they closed the canyon. Nevertheless, it was a great time. We hiked a couple miles up the canyon. This allowed us to cheer on a lot of the citizen riders of the Ultimate Challenge. This course is crazy! It included 3 mountain passes with total climbing around 12,000 vertical feet! It was an exciting day of racing for the pro riders! The 2012 winner of the Tour de France (Cadel Evans riding for team BMC below) was trying to lead a breakaway to close the gap on Tommy Danielson. While he won the stage, Tommy Danielson and Team Garmin were able to preserve the overall GC lead by a relatively large margin.
We were this close to Cadel Evans, winner of the 2012 Tour de France.
It was pretty awesome to see the caravan of support cars come through.
The highlight for Tru was that team Jelly Belly threw out free bags of jelly beans for the kids!
