We decided to sneak away for a quick Escalante and Capital Reef weekend–and it did not disappoint. We were able to find a nice campsite in the Calf Creek Falls campground. We had a great time camp cooking and telling stories around the campfire. It was so cute to watch the kids cuddle up with each other as the temperatures dropped to 30 degrees.

The next morning we awoke and drove to the trail head for Peekaboo and Spooky. These two slot canyons are joined by a short and enjoyable hike at the top of a plateau. Otherwise, we were squirming our way through incredible slot canyons. The kids kept saying, “I hope Mom and Dad can fit!”

Among all the canyons we have done, this hike is probably our new favorite to do with kids. It has been awhile since we hiked Little Wild Horse and Bell, but from what I remember, this was far superior. The kids had an absolute great time together!

After that, we drove over to Capital Reef National Park for a quick visit. It was the only NP in Utah we had not visited. We decided to hike the short, but beautiful Hickman Bridge that concludes with an amazing natural arch. Again, another kid-friendly hike. For the record, Capital Reef is way underrated. We are excited to go back and explore even more.
