Maxwell and I had the awesome opportunity to go to an Imagine Dragons concert in SLC together. Before the show we had burgers together at a restaurant in the Gateway. It was a great chance to connect with Maxwell about all the things happening in his life. We talked about swimming, friends, moving, girls and starting junior high in a few weeks. He is such a great kid. He is always so upbeat and positive and excited about life. I love being around him because he exudes optimism.

The concert was incredible. Maxwell adores this band. He loves playing the “It’s Time” riff on his guitar all the time. It was fun to see him get pumped up and cheer.

The concert ended around 11:30 and as we drove home he asked me, “Dad, on a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate the concert?” I replied, “I would give it a 10.” He quickly responded, “I would give it a 13 because it was that good and 13 is my lucky number!” (We were both born on the 13th.)

Overall, a very memorable evening with my oldest son, whom I love and am proud of.
